The contact expansion block serves as an extension device for contact reinforcement and contact multiplication of the non-delayed safety contacts of a base unit. Base units are all safety switching devices with feedback loop monitoring. The category to be realized according to EN 954-1 and EN ISO 13849-1 depends on the category of the base unit. It cannot be exceeded by the contact expansion block.
The device meets the following safety requirements: The contact expansion block extends an existing circuit. Since the output relays are monitored by the feedback loop of the base unit, the safety functions of the existing circuit are transferred to the contact expansion block. The safety device remains effective even in the event of a component failure.
Ground fault in the feedback loop: Detected depending on the base unit used.
Ground fault in the input circuit: The output relays drop out and the safety contacts open.
